Playground Safety is a Top Priority

Pacific Play places a huge priority on playground safety and ADA accessibility. Our playground equipment meets or exceeds ASTM F1487-17 standards, as well as USCPSC publication 325 for playground equipment for public use. Additionally, we also offer a wide range of accessible commercial playground equipment designed to meet the latest guidelines developed by the Federal Access Board for ADA accessibility. For detailed information contact the U.S. Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board at 1-800-872-2253. Our team of designers and engineers continually develops new products while refining existing ones with the latest materials. After design and fabrication, each new product is tested for conformance to playground safety and ADA accessibility standards. Our playground equipment suppliers, Playcraft Systems as well as Dynamo Playgrounds are both a member of the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), a member-driven organization whose mission is to assist in providing safe environments for children’s play.

Meeting and Exceeding Government Safety Standards

In the interest of playground safety, IPEMA provides a Third Party Certification Service whereby a designated independent laboratory validates a manufacturer’s certification of conformance to ASTM F1487-17 (excluding sections 10 and 12.6.1) Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public use.

IPEMA Certification

The use of the IPEMA certification logo in Krauss Craft’s catalog signifies that Krauss Craft has received written validation from the independent laboratory that the products associated with the use of the logo conform with the requirements of the indicated standard (excluding Sections 10 and 12.6.1). Please understand that development of new and existing products and certification of these products is an ongoing process. For a list of our currently IPEMA CERTIFIED products, please visit the IPEMA website at www.ipema.org.

The American Society of Testing & Materials International (ASTM)

The American Society of Testing & Materials International (ASTM) is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world, a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Known for their high technical quality and market relevancy, ASTM standards have an important role in the information infrastructure that guides design, manufacturing and trade in the global economy. In 1993, ASTM published Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specifications for Playground Equipment for Public Use, designated as F1487-93. The standard was reprinted in 1995 and 1998 and revised in 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2011. The ASTM establishes minimum acceptable performance specifications for everything from access components to playground safety and surfacing. For more information, contact the ASTM at:

United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC)

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency’s jurisdiction. The USCPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard or can injure children. The USCPSC’s work to ensure the safety of consumer products – such as playground equipment – contributed significantly to the decline in the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products over the past 30 years. The USCPSC’s Handbook for Public Playground Safety is a key reference tool for the playground industry, including specifications for the use of playground equipment and recommendations concerning age-related designs and playground safety.
