PIP Rubberized Surfacing, Playground Tiles
There are several types of playground safety surfacing, such as PIP rubberized surfacing, interlocking playground tiles, engineered wood fibers and playground sand, all available from Pacific Play Systems to be delivered and installed anywhere in southern California, including the following counties and more: San Diego, Orange, Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles. Our PIP rubberized surfacing products are available in a variety of colors and patterns and can accommodate irregular shaped playgrounds. All of our rubberized playground surfacing products are made with recycled materials, making the products environmental-friendly, durable and attractive. In addition to PIP rubberized surfacing, we also offer interlocking rubber tiles. Both of these maintenance-free options offer the maximum protection from falls.
The CPSC 325 and ASTM F1487-11 guidelines require that impact absorbing playground surfacing be placed around and under every commercial playground intended for public use. Our qualified staff at Pacific Play Systems is always available to guide each client in choosing the most cost effective playground surface that their budget allows, while ensuring that all selected playground surfaces meet or exceed all shock absorbency requirements determined by the critical fall height on the playground.
Engineered Wood Fibers, Sand, Other Types of Surfacing
Organic playground surfaces such as sand and engineered wood fibers (also referred to as wood chips, shredded wood chips, Fibar, Fiber Play, etc.) are considered very economical and are readily available materials that can be used as suitable playground surfacing. There are several grades of sand available. As such, it is important to select a grade that is pure sand and free of clay, soil and other foreign objects. When it comes to sand playground surfacing, we recommend the use of Pro Tour Sand, available through Pacific Play Systems, which is an attractive white playground sand and has a sand purity of over 99%. Cheaper grades of sand such as washed plaster sand, masonry sand and concrete sand all contain too many impurities and are not suitable for use as playground surfacing for public playgrounds. These cheaper grades of sand have a tendency to compact over time defeating their intended purpose. It should also be noted that sand is not considered to be an ADA accessible playground surface and should be used in combination with other ADA accessible playground surfaces (such as PIP or rubber tiles) in order to provide the required ADA access for playgrounds intended for public use. Engineered wood fibers are considered one of the most cost effective playground surfaces available that can also provide ADA accessibility, when properly compacted and maintained.
